Brain Games: Sony Gets Patent For Brain Interface

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Are you ready to take gaming to the next level? Apparently Sony is. Imagine getting the sights, smells, tastes, and feelings of a game beamed directly to your brain.

No doubt inspired by those late night commercials in which people lament 'If I'd gotten a patent, I'd be rich!'; Sony got their own patent (and several continuations) on a device that can transmit sensory data directly to your brain.

So how does it work? Well first off it's a non-invasive process, which means no hardware coming in direct contact with the brain. Instead the device will shoot pulses of ultrasound at the head to modify firing patterns in certain parts of the brain.

This will trick the mind into 'living' different experiences, i.e. seeing/feeling/smelling/tasting things that aren't really there. Basically it's electronic LSD.

No, you aren't able to run out and buy a PSB just yet. But don't be sad, look a it this way: You'll have plenty of time to prepare.

That's right. I bet you thought that dull and uneventful life you've been living was a total waste. Not so! Now is the time to work two, three, four jobs. Save as much money as you can...because one day, one glorious day, the PSB will come.

You'll sit in an overstuffed Lazy Boy, plug the console in, and finally truly experience life! Those thousands of hours spent playing PS2 will be a blink of an eye compared to the quality time you'll want with your PSB. And you'll be able to do it, all thanks to the crappy and boring life you lead now.
