Iraqi Insurgent Sniper Training ...Online

So you want to snipe some infidels...but don't have the time to attend those pesky training camps...what do you do? Don't despair, as long as you have access to the internet you have help in the form of things like this happy little manual:

Insurgent Sniper Training (This version was taken from the pro-insurgency website baghdadalrashid.com, translated by Pentagon analysts, and hosted on military.com. The original was a powerpoint presentation that took you through a training game called 'Who Would You Shoot?')

Okay, so it's not the most brilliant (or accurate) sniper manual out there. Though it does have some decent advice like a basic sniping order of ops:

If you see a line of Soldiers, kill the one who you think is the officer. Then, shoot the communications officer, then the MG [machine-gunner] - then the doctor - if he's there, you'll know by the red cross on his arm - (you don't need to respect the Geneva Treaty as long as the enemy does not respect it) and shoot at the Soldiers.

...and the importance of targeting journalists:

...then the Soldier or the reporter carrying the camera. First, because the camera can be used as binoculars; second, it is the most difficult thing to hide the death of a reporter in Iraq.

Mediocre training at best. But training isn't the main purpose of something like this. It's propaganda and it's meant to get people excited about joining the insurgency. I mean, if not for the propaganda angle, what would be the value of statements like this:

(This first one referring to U.S. soldiers killing Iraqi civilians.)

Also, if the American soldier feels that he will die, he will kill everyone around him in revenge (either we all live or we all die).

(This one from a section saying you should target U.S. Special Forces and why it's so easy to kill them.)

"they are very stupid because they have a 'Rambo complex', thinking that they are the best in the world; don't be arrogant like them."

Uh, yeah. Targeting Special Forces, eh...an ok idea. Assuming that they're all stupid and arrogant seems...well...stupid and arrogant! It just goes to show that those who make this kind of stuff are more interested in propaganda than actually keeping their people safe. Once you get to the 'front lines' it's probably already too late to realize that American soldiers aren't all civilian killing idiots just waiting to be sniped.

Of couse, not every bit of propaganda has to be made up. Check out these future insurgents:
